Trunk n' Treat Coming Soon!

Hey Bethlehem Families!

After a great planning meeting last night we came away with a fabulous family event for our kids! This year's Trunk N Treat will take place a bit earlier in the day than our usual event. Halloween is on a Sunday, a school night, so we are opting to celebrate together with an afternoon costume parade and Trunk n' Treat. Watch your child's backpack for a note containing vital details about this event! (details will also be posted here, on facebook, in the News Slice, etc, etc....)

Never been to a Trunk n' Treat??? What is involved? The purpose of this post is to share how easy and fun it is to do a trunk for Trunk n' Treat. Last year I spent a few days concocting a "Hippie Van" theme for my van. It involved painting some peace signs and groovy sayings on my van, hanging an American Flag inside, and "upholstering" the inside with psychedelic fabric I found at the craft store. In the meantime... my husband went about his daily life and then, at my request, threw together a trunk design for his own little car about an hour before the event. In truth... his turned out just a well as mine. He went with a soccer theme and just pulled items from our garage to make it work. Here is a photo....

Please excuse my little Jedi's head... It was the only photo I had. :)

I found lots of ideas - photos actually, I am a very visual person, at this website....

A few other facts to encourage you as you build and plan your trunk....

  • All candy is supplied by the school. You are not required to stock your own trunk with candy. (That said... candy donations are being accepted in the office)
  • One year a couple from church showed up with a trunk full of pumpkins and apples - a perfect low stress option.
  • Be prepared for the kids to circle the horseshoe of trunks over and over and over again. It is OK to give kids candy more than once. :)
  • Please bring a large bowl, basket, etc for candy. Our little school kitchen will not have enough to lend out for the night.
  • Your trunk will automatically be entered in a "best trunk contest". A secret panel of judges will be circulating... you could win a prize for your creativity!

Welcome Back!

Hello Bethlehem Families and Teachers!

We can hardly believe a new school year is about to begin! Our school building is beautiful, thanks to the hard work of our principal, Mr. Haan and the amazing BLS staff! Fresh paint, new classrooms, new friends to make.... we are ready to launch! Overheard in the Principal's office last week.... "I can't wait for school to start... It's lame around here without kids!"

The PTL is anticipating a great year! Our fund raising efforts last year enabled us to help purchase the new document cameras you will find our teacher's using this year. A fancy overhead projector replacement that will be a huge asset for our teachers and our kids! Thank you for making them possible! We are hoping to continue to help enhance our wonderful school this year through family activities, fund raising, and fellowship.

Please watch the PTL bulletin board in the hall for a complete list of meeting times for the coming school year. I will post them on this blog as well.

See you Monday!

Welcome!

Welcome to our Blog!

Our recent survey gave us some amazing feedback. Thank you for all of your answers, comments, & suggestions! One of the suggestions we received was to create a blog for easier communication... brilliant! It is our hope to use this forum as yet another way to keep the lines of communication open between our Parent Teacher League, it's officers, and our BLS staff. Keep the ideas coming... We are listening!
